Non Essential Amino Acid : Alanine
Alanine is a non essential amino acid. The body uses it to build protein. It is one of the most widely amino acids in protein construction.
What is it used for?
It has more uses than just building protein. It is required for the metabolism of glucose and tryptophan and Vitamin B5. Studies have shown it reduces cholesterol in rats. If you have Glandular Fever and chronic fatigue syndrome, it may be caused by excessive amounts of this amino acid and low levels of tyrosine and phenylalanine.
What if I don't have enough?
There are no known side effects of not having enough of it.
What if I have too much?
It doesn't have many side effects but if you have liver or kidney disease you should not take high amounts of amino acids without taking to your doctor.
What foods contain it?
Meat, fish, eggs, poultry, and dairy products.
