Non Essential Amino Acid : Glutamine
Glutamine is found in muscles in large quantities. It is also called a "smart-vitamin" by some because it can easily pass the blood-brain barrier.
What is it used for
It converts to glutamic acid in the brain. This helps brain function and mental activity.
It is also used in the muscles for the synthesis of muscle proteins. This is very important if you want to build muscle. It also treats muscles after a workout. This is an important amino acid for the muscles and is crucial to growing muscle.
What if I don't have enough?
Its very hard to be deficient in this amino acid unless you fast for long periods of time.
What if I have too much?
It seems nothing will happen if you take too much. However, if you have liver or kidney problems it is recommended you avoid taking too much.
What foods contain it?
Meat, fish, spinach, parsley, dairy, and beans.
