Non Essential Amino Acid : Tyrosine
Tyrosine is a precursor of the neurotransmitters epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine. All of these are extremely important in the brain and they transmit nerve impulses and prevent depression.
One key factor that makes this amino acid interesting is that it helps supress the appetite and reduces body fat. It also helps production of hair and skin pigment and helps the thyroid, pituitary, and adrenal glands function properly.
This amino acid may also prove useful in people with narcolepsy, fatigue, anxiety, depression, allergies, headaches and drug withdrawal.
What if I don't take enough?
Deficiency in this amino acid may include symptoms such as low blood pressure, low body temperature, and restless leg syndrome.
What foods contain it?
Dairy, eggs, meat, bananas, avocados, and almonds.
